Abstract (EN)
In the province of Thessaloniki, Bulgarian, Greek, Vlach, Serbian, Albanian, Jewish and Kibtis live together with the Turks. In addition to its multi-religious, multi-cultural structure, the region's economic strength, transportation opportunities and strategic importance are important. In this study, it is tried to put forward the map of the crimes that occurred in Thessaloniki province. Murder, wounding, coup, theft, gasb, disappearance, desertion, armament in the region, banditry, criminal crimes such as comitism are examined. Thessaloniki has been the cradle of political as well as daily crimes. During this period, Hüseyin Hilmi Paşa was appointed as the General Inspector of Rumelia (1902-1908). With the decisions of Mürzsteg and regulations in the gendarmerie organization, it was tried to ensure public order in the region. According to the Mürzsteg decisions, Macedonia was divided into five regions: Monastery, Thessaloniki, Skopje, Drama and Serres, and one gendarmerie battalion was placed in each region. These regions were left under the control of the European state and the security of the region was tried to be ensured. The crime, which is seen as a daily problem in the province of Thessaloniki, has gained an international dimension. The main source of the study was the documents related to the crime and public order of Thessaloniki in the Ottoman Archives of the Prime Ministry.
