Transcription and evaluation of the İstanbul Newspaper dated 1867 (numbers 80-130)

Newspapers present a panorama of a period from many perspectives. Since the first newspaper in the history of the press, the newspapers of the period serve as an important source in terms of understanding the characteristics of the period. With the publication of the first Turkish newspaper of the Ottoman Empire, Takvim-i Vekayi, in 1831, the series of Turkish newspapers began. Since the first newspaper was published, the main purpose of newspapers has been to inform and educate the public by delivering news. In addition, in an environment where the depressive domestic and foreign events of the 19th century were experienced, newspapers also served as political propaganda. Takvim-i Vekayi, which was published in 1831, pioneered the newspapers and the Ottoman press varied in the opposition environment of the 1860s. Istanbul Newspaper, which is the subject of this study, was published by Mehmed Arif Efendi, nicknamed Arifaki, in 1867. Having a colorful life, Mehmed Arif Efendi's journalism career is quite diverse. Istanbul Newspaper political, social, cultural etc. of the period. It is an important resource for the subjects.
