Power struggle in the Ottoman Empire from the 1912 elections to the 1913 Ottoman Coup D'état (1912-1913)

The basic objective of the thesis is to shed light on one of the most complicated periods of Turkish political life. With this study it is aimed to give information, make analyses and submit findings about: I) The political order of the Ottoman Empire in the aftermath of the Second Constitution and the Committee of Union and Progress in power, II) The struggle of the Committee of Union and Progress against the political parties and other opposition elements, especially the Freedom and Accord Party, III) Military and political developments affecting the empire in Istanbul, Thessaloniki, Albania, Tripoli and so on in distinct geographies, IV) The relationship between military and civilian politics, their contradictions and interactions. At the beginning of the thesis, the developments that took place after the declaration of the Second Constitutional Monarchy were given and the political environment in which the Ottoman Empire entered was explained. Then the process leading to the 1912 elections was examined and it was shown which political and military reasons caused the election. In the next part, the events of the summer of 1912, which is decorated with military conspiracies and internal revolts, are explained chronologically. Immediately afterwards the political and military reasons of the coup d'état jointly carried out by the Committee of Union and Progress and the Unionist officers and dated 23 January 1913, were analyzed and evaluated in all aspects. The opposition-power relations were reflected in the perspective of the military-political relationship and dialectics until the assassination of Mahmud Şevket Pasha after the recapture of political power by the Unionists. The events of the 1912-1913 period were chronologically examined and the links between the events and their successors were examined based on the cause-effect relationship and the reader was given the opportunity to understand and question the period.
