The effects of Hollywood cinema on clothing fashion between 1930-1960

Cinema is the seventh branch of art that affects the fashion field and the way people dress. Hollywood cinema and the costumes of the actors who take part in the iconic films of this cinema can have an impact on the clothing of the people. The main purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of films on society and fashion in line with the films within the sample and to create the right source of literature. Within the scope of the research; The cinema and its historical development, the birth of Hollywood cinema in this process and the effect of Hollywood cinema on society in the period called "Golden Age" between 1930-1960, the situations and conditions that it was affected are included. Fashion and its historical development are mentioned within the scope of research limitations. The place of the costume in the cinema, the place of the costume designers and fashion designers in the design process, the process of becoming the style icon of the movie actors in the relationship between cinema and fashion and their effects on fashion are discussed. The research is qualitative in terms of the problem and the method applied to solve the problem. Document analysis form was used to obtain the research data. As a result of the analysis, the costumes of the leading actors of the seven iconic Hollywood films in the sample were examined in detail and the research findings were obtained. Some of the main results obtained as a result of this research are that movie stars have a great influence on society, and that in order to resemble them, the audiences have changed themselves from their gestures to their behavior and clothing.
