Abstract (EN)

The Olympic games which started in Sumer in 1200 B.C, have taken a different dimension-form since they passed to the Greeks. The Olympic Games which hadn't been held for a long time, were being discussed to start being held again due to the work of Coubertin from Pierre in 1892. Based on Coubertin's work, the Antic Greeks Olympic games were fit to the modern era. At the same time, after the second constitution in Ottoman Empire, they started to prepare themselves in participating at the Olympic games with the association that they formed. Mr. Selim Sirri Tarcan, the turkish representative at the Council of Olympic Games in 1908 created the Ottoman group of Olympic Games. After that, two Ottoman citiziens participated themselves at the Olympic Games held in Sweeden in 1908. During the Republic Time, participation in Olympic Games was done every year after the Olympic Games held in Paris in 1924. At this competitionsTurkey has participated with a group of 44 participants in seven different categories. At the end of the competitions, Turkey had collected 64 points, 6 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 2 bronze medals becoming the 12th won a big success.
