Cities have been the places where the sociological, economical and cultural changes happened starting from the first settlement. Architectural works which are a part of our lives, has been constructed with the fear of aesthetics and were also used as a theme in painting.In the research, it was aimed to examine historical evalution of ?city? topiced paintings in the history of Turkish Painting from 1950 to present. In the frame of this aim: the first chapter of the research included occuring of cities in history from neolitic erat o industrial period. By evaluating art movements with occurance of cities, understanding of city concept in painting art was examined. As in the Europian painting, artists have also painted the place they live. The approaching perspectives of artists to city concept from Miniature to modernization period and to 1950s in Turkish painting were examined.In the second chapter of the research, effects of urbanization on artists and its refletctions to painting were examined from 1950 to present. Modern art movements have affected painting art in the view of equipment, topic and technique. Existance of new art approaches also has affected painting artists in chosing of cities as a topic. As artists face positive and negative effects of globalization as a individual of a society, they approached in their paintings to problems of our urbanizated country as migration, urbanization, communication and related problems. Painting artists have used city and effects of city life.The research was designed in document scanning method. The research was restricted to artworks of artists taking city concept in Turkish Painting Art from 1950. Examining literature survey related to topic, there have been a limited research in this area.
