1960 ve 1965 arasında Hayat Dergisi üzerinden Türkiye'de mekansal anlatıların analizi

In the mid-20th century, Turkey experienced significant architectural and cultural transformations. This thesis focuses on these transformations between 1960 and 1965 through the issues of Hayat Magazine. The study analyzes in detail the contents of the magazine during this period and evaluates how spatial design and the socio-cultural environment are reflected. The thesis reveals the representations of interiors in Hayat Magazine by determining the cultural, social, and political changes of the period. Hayat Magazine provides a significant amount of written and visual information that reflects the cultural and aesthetic values of the time. The thesis is constructed around the thematic analysis of the spatial keywords revealed from this data. Visual and the related text revealed seven themes: geographical location, visual characteristics, furniture, domestic appliances, interior space, exterior space, and occupants. In the discussion, the analysis of space-oriented photographs published in Hayat Magazine in the selected period is presented in detail, which revealed the role of Hayat Magazine in the promotion of post-war spatial culture to the Turkish audience. A comparative analysis with Life Magazine highlights the influence of American culture on Turkish interiors during the same period. This thesis contributes to the literature, positioning Hayat Magazine as a significant resource for understanding spatial promotion and cultural dissemination.
