Impoverishment and globalization trends in the world economy after 1980

Probably the most important result of comparative advantages theory is about globalization concept which is dealt with in many disciplines and discussed whether as a fact or fiction. Because with globalization concept, integrated liberal/neo-liberal trends/theses argue that globalization creates an important opportunity for economic development and growth by providing the effective allocation of resources. So that, this process can also avoids probable social problems. Globalization, which has been examined in different periods of time and different periods in the literature, will be discussed with the changes in the world economy after 1980 and the effects of globalization process on poverty will be analyzed within the framework of panel data. Within the framework of this analysis, the relationship between poverty and globalization will be tried to be determined in 1990- 2014 by examination of population growth and GDP per capita. Then, the globalization index was expanded to include political and social globalization and the relationship between globalization and poverty was analyzed. Poverty was measured through the Human Development Index (HDI) and globalization was measured by the KOF globalization index. In the analysis, the countries were analyzed through dividing into three as developed, underdeveloped and developing countries based on the distinction of the United Nations. According to the estimation results obtained from panel data analysis, as the Human Development Index and KOF Index increase, poverty decreases and globalization increases.
