Abstract (EN)

Defense is a need, spending expenditures for defense is to provide this need. All countries, entire of their history, have given the preference to provide their own defense in the first place. From primitive societies to modern societies, defense has become the most integral issue. All countries have several changes when spending expenditures for defense. All these expenditures depend on; the location of the country, neighborhood, threats from inside (such as P.K.K terrorism), political relationships with other countries, and the importance of defense. Turkish government have invested more money and paid more attention than other countries when it comes to defense entire of its history. However, all these expenditures for defense have been lowered in the last six years. Expenditures for defense is included in the following manner; budget, industrial defense support fund expenditure, and Turkish Army Association expenditures. 0n a research about ?how did the defence expenditures affect (from budget) Turkish economic growth between 1980-2006 years? have gotten some extremity values wihich break regular dispersion after 2000 year values. This kind of difference could only occured with a change of trend. Thus clearly shows that the decrease on defence expenditures which is related to the change of goverment on 2000 year and the European Union Process did not affect the economic growth positively. In fact, the relationship between defence expenditures and the economic growth has been turned negative.
