Classification of sea area according to 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea: High sea regime

In the reamining areas out of the territorial waters and defined as The High SeasArea by the classical law, some new maritime jurisdiction taking place in favor of thestates with adjacent coasts such as the contiguous zone, continental shelf, exclusiveeconomic zone, high seas and area brought out new dimensions to the delimitationproblems.In this study, the definitions, the limits and the legal process about the High Seasmaritime jurisdiction areas are looked through, then the rights that they offer to the relatedstates and the delimitation criteria are introduced. The respective items of agreements overthe Law of The Sea in 1958 and 1982 and ICJ are studied acccording to UN agreementswith Turkish Republic and Turkish Coast Guard between the neighbour states Govermentsand the Coast Guard units.Key Words : Sea Law, 1982 UNCLOS, High Seas, Exclusive Economic Area, ContiguousZone, Continental Shelf
