Abstract (EN)

Court records have high importance in terms of both Ottoman history and local history. Along with the correspondences of central administration, Judges recorded the complaints and requests of the public, royal decrees and verdicts belonging to local administration known as judiciary arrangements and above all court decisions reflecting the social and economic life of the place it belongs to. That is the reason why it is impossible to clearly enlighten the social, political and administrative history of The Ottoman State without first analysing these accounts known as court records. Besides, court records are primary source of scientific research pertaining to the local lives in the country and also source of city histories highly popular today. There are 423 records in number two Kastamonu court records 1084-1087 Hijri / 1673-1677 Gregorian. Which we study on "hüccet", "i'lâm" documents constitute most of these. Furthermore, "edict", "berât", "buyruldu", "letters", "temessük", "vakfiye", "notebook", "estate" records are also largely available. Based on these documents we have tried to determine social-economic, cultural, legal and administrative situation of Kastamonu. Each paper and documents in papers have been given numbers and the same method has been applied in the documents summary section to make the researce more practical.
