Synthesis of 2-substituted-n-[4-(1H-imidazole-1-YL)phenyl] acetamide derivatives and investigation of their antimicrobial effects

Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, although there are lots of antimicrobial agents, the treatment is insufficient and incomplete due to some conditions such as drug side effects, toxic effects and resistance problems. Hence, researches still have been continued in this area with different methods in order to reach new and effective compound with fewer side effects. In this study, 14 2-substituted-N-[4-(1H-imidazole-1-yl)phenyl]acetamide derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of 2-Chloro-N-[4-(1H-imidazole-1-yl)phenyl]acetamide and different mercapto azoles. Structures of the synthesized compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and elementary analyses. Antimicrobial effect tests of the synthesized compounds were determined by in vitro activity tests. Antibacterial activity test were performed by using Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 51922, Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 1911, Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC 700603, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853, Escherichia coli ATCC 35218 ve Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 species. Chloramphenicol was used as a standard antibacterial agent. Antifungal activity test was performed by using Candida albicans ATCC 90028, Candida glabrata ATCC 90030, Candida krusei ATCC 6258 and Candida parapsilopsis ATCC 22019 species. Ketoconazole was used as a standard antifungal agents. As a result of microbiological studies, it has been determined that synthesized compounds possess moderate antimicrobial activity.
