Abstract (EN)
An individual's personality is formed not only through the society and the family the individual is born into, but also the time frame in which we he/she live in. Just as the saying "if you lie down with dogs you will rise up with fleas" people are influenced with their surroundings. The reason behind bold courage of Eastern artists during and following the world wars is the fact that such artists were faced with a real element of fear. This primal fear has inclined them to be bold. Just as man cannot be honest without courage, an artist cannot search for absolute truth without facing his/her deepest fears. In this work the purpose is to state that the bridge between the artist and the work of art is art in its very self. An artist is human after all, nevertheless, with the power of creative conveyance differs his/herself from any other member of the public. The artists tongue can be followed by the masses. I worked to identify how and why an artist conveys his/her work of art objective or subjectively. Some artists that work on women and their identity have objectified women and some have portrayed them divine and wholly. Whilst laying hands on the work artist focused on, I have explained the work these artist put through. Some through their own life experiences and some through solid stereotypes and dogmas. I have tried to explain the male-domination of Modern art (1870-1970) and how and why it has been a portrayal of women through the perspective of men. Moreover, I have tried to show how female artists adressed femininity through their own work of art. Subsequently, I wrote about artists of Contemporary art (1970-) and the issues they struggled to emphasize on their work concerning the identity of women: why they had to adress issues such as sexuality, sexual abuse, maternity and family. Through capitalising highly on feminism, separating male and female modern art and without discriminating male-female work in contemporary art, I placed emphasis that each work is in unison in terms of absolute art. In modern art, the difference between male and female work is related with time and the point of view of society. Especially through the impact of world wars 1&2, with feminism the art market has shifted to contemporary art from eastern art. The reason behind my description of male and female contemporary artists work on female identity in the same cluster is because through the shift process of eastern art during the 21st century feminists cry for equality have moved beyond and come a long way in terms of objective opinion.
