The second half of the 20th century social realizm in Turkish portrait art

As a part of society, an artist, takes social features of the society he is living in and cultures that are included to the society?s life as a matter to himself as a realistic expression with a figurative tendency.Especialiy in the 19th century, as a result of industrializatio and movenents passing thorough democracy, it was affected by topics related to culture, politics, education, religion, social foundations and art, and studies related tosociety had started to be done.In Turkey, with changes happened in society?s construction after the foundation of republic, artist, by getting the help of government, had done so many studies reflecting society life in their trips through the country. In Turks portrait art, Social Realistic Tendecy began with ?The Recents Group? that were using traditional forms and topics about ordinary people and that brought revolutionary innovations on topics since 1940s. Between 1950-1960, Artists having ?New Figürative Tendencies? by individual attacks had important paces in the development of the consciousness of ?Nalional Art? in galaries since 1970 with the help of new figure works. Developments in the field of changing technologies caused consumption culture in society on one hand and individuals to go away from society and reality of life and go nearer to an imaginery life and communication disorders on the other hand since 1980.Since 1990, technological changes has gone on getting more and more fast until today and with these changes, artists had so many opportunities in joining activities both in the country and out of the country, and has foliawed changes related to art at a close range. As a result of artists?s approaching sensitively to the changes of social values, individual?s and society?s life style has been reflected to studies, negative changes, having been lived so far, has been transferred to the audiences in a realistic or critic way and it has the function of both information and a document.Keywords: Social Realizm, Turkish Art, Art, Figurative Tendencies.
