Struggle against terrorism and terror in 20th century in Europe and Turkey

Terror, in general, means to scare, to terrify and to discourage and terrorism is the use of regular, planned violence carried by a person, a group or by the state to achieve some definite political goals in conjunction with an ideology.It is possible to study the struggle against terror in two titles. The struggle against the persons, who perform the act of terrorism, which is the security oriented and first part of the struggle against terror, is called fight against terrorists. The second part of the struggle against terror is carried out in social, economic, cultural and political fields, which is called fight against terrorism.The aim of this study is to determine social, economic, political and cultural factors which play important roles in the emergence of terror and to present the global dimension of terrorism. It is also the aim of this study, within this framework, to examine effective terrorist organizations of Europe in the 20th century and experiences of those countries which struggle against these organizations in the context that whether it would be contributed to Turkey?s anti-terrorism policies.
