Abstract (EN)
This research focuses on the representation of European identity in European cinema after 2000. The aim of the study is to understand the role of cinema in the construction of social identity and how European identity is represented in cinema. The research uses a "purposive sampling" method and examines five films that address European identity in different dimensions: "Apple of My Eye", "The Life of Others", "The Word Correspondent", "The War of Honor" and "Mustang". The films were examined with sociological analysis and content analysis methods; they were evaluated in the context of visual and narrative codes. The findings reflect the high level of welfare in Europe through adoption processes and the importance given to children's rights. The themes of education and social harmony, elements emphasizing individual resistance and social solidarity, convey the conflict between tradition and modernity through the experiences of women. The positive aspects seen in European cinema stand out as the importance given to children's rights, equality in education and the support of social harmony. It shows that European cinema symbolizes European identity with values such as equality, social justice, welfare and individual freedom while contributing to the processes of social transformation. In addition, these films also address negative aspects such as social pressures, the tension between state surveillance and individual freedoms, and women's resistance to traditional roles. In this way, European cinema comprehensively analyzes social dynamics and the place of individuals within these dynamics. The research reveals that European identity has a complex structure in European cinema after 2000 and that this identity is represented in different ways through cinema.
