The ideological functions of social realist films in Turkish cinema after 2000 and the film "Dark Factory"

This study will examine what kind of ideological function Turkish social realist films made after 2000 have. It will be emphasized that the overwhelming majority of these films are products of the culture industry rather than being of artistic and cultural value, and the distance between the ideological positions of directors depicting social problems and those who actually experience the problem itself will be discussed. The first and second parts of the study will focus on reality, realism in cinema, social realism in art in general, social realism in cinema, social realism in cinema, culture industry, examples of social realist films from Turkish and world cinema, the theories that form the cultural basis of social realist cinema and the relationship between cinema and ideology before the general trends in post-2000 social realist Turkish cinema. In the third and final part of the study, the analysis of the film Dark Factory, which tells the dynamics by which social realist film becomes a commodity that can be bought and sold rather than an artistic and cultural value, and the alienation of the director from his work and society within capitalist production relations, will be analyzed.
