Abstract (EN)

This study has been done for determining the level of proficiency in the Turkish Class Curriculum 2005 in 2nd Stage Primary Schools regarding acquisition of Critical Reading Skills. The question of ?Is the Turkish Class Curriculum in 2005 in 2nd Stage Primary Schools sufficient?? is the basis of the research. Moreover, the answer to the question ?Does critical reading skill depend on the sex of the students, their socio-economic conditions and the types of the text?? is skeed. In order to find an answer to this question, acquisition of Critical Reading Skills in 2nd Stage Primary Schools are presented to in the Turkish teachers working in primary schools Afyonkarahisar Province and district and it was asked them to identify the acquisition of Critical Reading Skills. After than, under the light of the obtained data, 5 text were prepared among the 100 Basic Work Pieces of the Primary School and it was applied on the students from paradigm schools Mareşal Fevzi Çakmak Primary School, Susuz Primary School and Ali Çetinkaya Primary School. The cosmos of the research are constituted by the 8th grade students of Afyonkarahisar Province in 2010-2011 school year.As a result of the research, it is understood that 2005 Turkish Language Class Curriculum is insufficient in Critical Reading Skills. Female students are significantly advantageus in acquiring critical reading skills. Furthermore, students living under positive socio-economic conditions are more sufficient in acquiring Critical Reading Skills.By this result, the texts and the activities related to the text have to be more associated with the critical reading skills; and the teacher must be educated for critical reading skills and more activities on the issue have to be applied in the classrooms.Key Words: Turkish Language Teaching Program, reading skills, critical reading skills.
