Abstract (EN)
Masonry structures are structures that do not have a reinforced concrete carcass system, have not undergone any engineering process, and transfer the live and fixed loads on the building to the foundation with load-bearing walls. Although it is not preferred in new buildings, considering the frequency of use, it is quite common in Turkey. Brick, natural stone, briquette, adobe etc. are used for load-bearing walls in masonry buildings, which are more common in rural areas. materials are known. While masonry buildings are generally used as residences, some old schools, health centers and social buildings also appear as masonry buildings. For this reason, the necessary analyzes of such structures, which are used by many people, should be made according to today's earthquake regulations and appropriate strengthening methods should be applied. A part of the 2018 Building Earthquake Code, which entered into force on 18.03.2018, includes "Special Rules for the Design of Masonry Building Support Systems Under the Impact of Earthquake". Inspection and strengthening of existing buildings in accordance with current regulations is extremely important in terms of preventing loss of life and property. Although it is not preferred in new school buildings, existing masonry school buildings should be examined according to regulations and strengthened if necessary. In this study, a masonry school building in Bilecik, which was previously examined according to the DBYBHY-2007 regulation, was re-examined according to the TBDY-2018 regulation. Performance analyzes of masonry school buildings were made with StatiCAD. As a result of the comparison, it was seen that there were differences between the DBYBHY-2007 and TBDY-2018 regulations.
