Expression forms of the women directors about the violence against women after the 2010 Turkish cinema

When an individual cannot find rational solutions to a situation, all acts in which the individual harms himself or another individual spiritually or physically are called violence. In the scope of the research; based on the definitions of "violence" that disrupts the process of correct communication, the violence against women has been associated with the concepts of cinema and reality and handled through the films of women directors in Turkish cinema after 2010. After 2010 in Turkish cinema, the increase in the number of female directors who have created a cinema language and the increase in social and political films quantitatively, the focus of the study is important to understand how women directors deal with violence against women. In this regard, the problems of the female directors who try to exist within the cinema sector bearing the traces of the masculine subject and patriarchy are analyzed in terms of their reflections on the white screen through social order, gender and cultural values. The fact that films dealing with women's problems in cinema are mostly told by male directors from a masculine perspective and in the recent films of Turkish cinema, the subject is further limited and it was found that there is no study examining how women directors deal with violence against women. In this context; this issue is important for the study to fill this gap in the literature and to shed light on other studies in this field.
