Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study; examining kidney biopsies, determining their demographic characteristics, determining the frequency of renal diseases based on histopathological diagnosis and evaluating the relationship between clinical and histopathological findings. Material Method: The study, which was performed retrospectively at the KTU Faculty of Medicine Nephrology Clinic, included 258 adult patients who underwent percutaneous kidney biopsy between 2011 and 2018 and whose clinical information was available. Transplant kidney biopsies were excluded from the study. Patient information, biopsy indications and pathology results were examined by examining patient files and automation system. The patients; gender, age, clinical features, biopsy indications, histopathological results and laboratory values were recorded. These records were evaluated internally and comparatively. Results: A total of 258 kidney biopsies were examined. The average number of glomeruli was calculated as 16.21 ± 10.30. 100 (39%) of the patients were female and 158 (61%) were male. The male / female ratio was 1.58:1. The patients were between the ages of 18-81 and the average age was 43.96 ± 14.86. Glomerular diseases were found most frequently in patients undergoing kidney biopsy. Primary GN rate was higher than secondary GN. Primary GN was the most common histopathology result in both sex groups. The most common kidney biopsy indication was NS. The most common histopathological diagnoses among primary GNs were found as MGN, IgAN and FSGS. The most common secondary cause of GN was amyloidosis. Diabetic nephropathy was in second place, lupus nephritis was in third place. When all of the kidney biopsies included in the study were evaluated, the complication rate was low. No major complications were detected. Result: When the percutaneous kidney biopsies performed between 2011-2018 at the KTU Faculty of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Nephrology retrospectively, the data we obtained in our study were compatible with studies involving long-term, multicenter and large biopsy series found in the literature, as in many studies conducted in our country. The data we obtained in our study will help us to develop a more forward-looking approach to patients and to develop a more forward-looking approach in terms of necessity of kidney biopsy indications, compatibility of indications and pathological results, distribution of common renal pathologies in our region, clinical features of patients. In addition, establishment of the kidney biopsy national registration system will help us reach more accurate information about the frequency and features of the diseases in our country. Although the data of our center are presented in our study, we believe that this may contribute to creating a retrospective national database. Key Words: Renal biopsy, glomerulonephritis.
