Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Objective: The aim of our study was to investigate the demographic characteristics, clinical and laboratory course and treatment efficacy of patients with primary or secondary glomerulonephritis diagnosed by percutaneous renal biopsy. Materials and Methods: In this study, we prospectively analyzed the data of a total of 63 patients with primary or secondary GN diagnosed by percutaneous renal biopsy between June 2020 and July 2021 in the Department of Nephrology, Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine. Viral and autoimmune serology, proteinuria and creatinine clearance measured by collecting 24-hour urinalysis, serum creatinine, albumin, LDL-C levels, eGFR, systolic and diastolic blood pressures and treatments received were prospectively evaluated. Findings: The top 3 most common primary GNs in our study were MN (34,6%), IgAN (30,8%) and FSGS (23,1%). The most common secondary GN was hypertensive nephrosclerosis (%37,8). Of all patients, 66,7% were male, with a mean age of 50,4±17 years and a mean BMI of 27,9±5,0 kg/m2 at the time of biopsy. Nephrotic syndrome was present in 42.9% of all patients at presentation. The mean creatinine clearance level calculated by collecting 24-hour urine was 78,0±55,4 mL/min and proteinuria was 7,7±9,1 g/day. Mean serum creatinine levels were 1,8±1,5 mg/dL, mean tGFH values were 64,1±40,3 mL/min/1,73 m2, and mean serum albumin levels were 30,5±7,7 g/L. Results: There was a statistically significant difference between hypertensive nephrosclerosis and FSGS patients in terms of gender. Hypertensive nephrosclerosis was more common in male patients and FSGS was more common in female patients. Serum albumin levels were significantly lower in the MN group compared to the hypertensive nephrosclerosis group. Serum creatinine levels were significantly lower in the MN and FSGS groups compared to the crescentic GN and hypertensive nephropathy groups. Serum LDL-C level was significantly higher in the MN group compared to the hypertensive nephrosclerosis group.
