Abstract (EN)

The foundation structures, which are a manifestation of the Ottoman civilization, have increased at the same rate as the expanding state in place and time, and have become in need of more strict control. The Foundation of Foundations Inspectorate, which was established for the smooth functioning of these foundations and to deal with the cases related to the foundations, became one of these enforcement authorities. This institution, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Evkaf-ı Hümayun, became the main actor in the inspection of foundations, and carried out their duties in parallel with the judges working in the districts and the registries of their arrests. In this framework, there are 801 notebooks kept between 888-1342/1483-1924 under the name of Haremeyn Foundation Inspectorship Registers. In this study, based on the book numbered 266, which was kept between the years 1212-1213/1797-1798, evaluations were made about the characteristics of the foundation cases between these years.
