Abstract (EN)
On May 27, 1960, the 10-year rule of the Democrat Party (DP) was ended with a military coup. The 1960 coup, the first coup in the history of the Republic, will initiate the period of coups that followed. In the next period, until the 1965 elections, the country will struggle with both political and economic instability. The effects of the economic crisis in the DP period will continue after the coup. The National Unity Committee (MBK), which was in power at that time, did not determine a plan or policy and had no experience in state administration until the coup. This period, which was called the interim regime period until the 1961 elections, generally passed when the MBK established its own power and tried to eliminate the division within the committee. The May 27 Coup suspended not only the political and democratic process, but also the economic process. This has caused problems such as economic stagnation, unemployment, hunger, expensiveness and decrease in purchasing power in the society. However, the expression of these problems will begin with the approach of the 1961 elections and will increasingly continue during the civilian administration periods under the shadow of the military. Although the 1961-1965 period was spent in the struggle for development, political instability, domestic issues and important developments in foreign policy would prevent the plan from working as intended. Considering the history of coups and the events in our history, it is known that the coups have greatly damaged the country. In this sense, the study aims to reveal the economic dimension of the damages inflicted on the country , its impact on economic life by the 27 May Coup and the activities carried out during the post-coup development struggle within the framework of economic policies, practices and institutions.
