Abstract (EN)

Population is the number of people who live at a specific time and within a specific area. The number of people required for both production and military power in terms of the administration of the countries can only be determined by census. The characteristics of the population as well as the amount of the population are of great importance for the administration of the country. For this reason, the population census determines the gender, age, occupation, births and deaths of the population. In this context, countries can create a healthier management. Although population censuses were made at certain intervals in the 15th and 17th centuries, which we call the classical period in the Ottoman Empire, the first census in modern terms was made in 1831. During the period from 1831 until the collapse of the state, population censuses were held on certain dates. In the first period of the Ottoman Empire, the census was done with the application of enactment. The purpose of Tahrir is to be able to determine the taxes and to recruit soldiers rather than to know the population in the country. It was aimed to both shed light on the history of the region and to be a source for the studies to be carried out on the population registers by transcribing the records about the Muslim population in the book numbered 2782 dated H.1251 that I worked on.
