Monitoring the changes in the vocabulary development of the children with autism spectrum disorder between 3;00 – 5; 11 years of age during A year time

In this study, it is aimed to describe how the vocabulary development of children with autism diagnosed (ASD) between 3;00 – 5;11 changes during a year. For this purpose, 97 children with ASD were divided into 36-48, 49-60- & 61-72-month age groups. The children with ASD were evaluated with a total of 3 assessment tools every 6 months. The assessment tools, Turkish Communication Development Inventory (TIGE I-II), Turkish Early Language Development Test (TEDIL) and Gilliam Autistic Disorder Rating Scale (GOBDÖ-2-TV) were used in thisstudy. The data obtained from the 3 assessment tools were subjected to in-group and inter-group analyzes using SPSS package program. According to the findings of the study, no difference was found between the age groups in terms of TIGE Receptive Language and Expressive Language.When TIGE results are examined, there are no significant differences between the 3 measurements. Educational environment and weekly training hours affect the development of vocabulary. Participants' vocabulary development was heterogeneous by category. In general, the number of receptive language vocabulary of the participants is higher than the number of expressive language vocabulary.However, the expressive language vocabulary shows a faster progression than the receptive language vocabulary.
