Abstract (EN)
In Ottoman historical studies, Şer'iye registers hold great importance as primary sourcers. In this thesis, the subject of our study will be the 3rd numbered Kütahya Şer'iye Register. This register includes entries dated between the years H. 1172-1180/M.1759-1767 Şer'iye register contain decisions made by the kadı such as verdicts and judgments. In the register, documents such as i'lam, hüccet, inheritance records and records from the central and surrounding areas, as well as petitions from other cities, are found. These records, which have reached us from the Ottoman period to the present day, provide valuable information about the people living in Kütahya and its surroundings, their customs, traditions, local administrative structures, personel titles, household items, the city's commercial relations, etc. These documents include information about the social, political and economic structure of Kütahya during the years studied and the Ottoman State's administrative functioning.
