Evaluation and transcription of Kalebend Book No. 32 (P.1-100)

Kalebend notebooks are notebooks containing provisions regarding crimes and punishments in the Ottoman Empire. XVIII. By examining these books, which started to be kept in the 19th century, it is possible to obtain detailed information such as crime, the variety of crimes, the places where the crime was committed, the professions of the criminals, their gender, and their religious beliefs. In this study, the first 100 pages of the Kalebend Book No. 32 in the Presidential Ottoman Archives were examined. This notebook covers the date range of Hijri 1224-1226 and there are 361 sentences and 468 prisoners in the examined part. Kalebend punishment is the imprisonment of a criminal in a castle. In the notebook examined, punishment types such as kalebend, cezirebend, monasterybend, kulbend, nefy (exile), and sending to the shovel were encountered. Crimes were committed in a wide variety of regions under Ottoman rule.
