Investigation of abuse awareness of child parents in 4-6 years of age (Diyarbakır sample)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the abuse awareness of parents who have children in the age range of 4-6 years and to investigate the relation with some variables. The data of the study were gathered after reaching the 197 parents who have 4-6 age children in Diyarbakır Province between 01.07.2018 and 19.09.2018. In order to determine the demographic information of the parents the personal information form and Abuse awareness Scale-Parental Form was applied to determine to abuse potential. The obtained data were analyzed statistically by SPSS 21 Package program. When the results of the study are examined; 55% of parents had a medium and high level of abuse potential, and the duration of education for low-education mothers was more likely to be abuse potential than for high-mothers. It is also seen that parents at low economic levels and in traditional families have a higher exploitation potential. In addition, parents have the potential to abuse girls at a higher level than boys. As a result of the study, it was observed that there was no significant difference between abuse and the gender of the parent, the working status of the mother, the age of the parent and the family type.
