Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to determine whether the measurement skills of preschool children differ according to some variables and to determine the causes of inadequacy of measurement skills. This research is important in terms of determining which variables influence the measurement skills and the causes of inadequacy and finding solutions. Work findings are expected to contribute to early mathematics and measurement education by supporting new developments in curriculum development, pedagogical interventions, and assessment tools aimed at children's mathematical skills. The universe of the research in which the descriptive research model is used is the students who attend private kindergartens attached to the Ministry of Family and Social Policy in Çankaya province of Ankara in 2015-2016 academic year. The case study group sampling method was used. Sampling has taken 99 children from two different schools. As a means of data collection in the research, the measurement skill test developed by the researcher and the student observation form were used. The interpretation of findings in the study was based on a significance level of 0.05. Analyzes were made using the SPSS program. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the measurement skill scores did not show normal distribution. The total scores of area-volume and measuring ability of children were statistically significant (p <0.05). Gender and educational year status were not statistically significant (p> 0.05).
