Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between social gender stereotypes of 48- 72 month old children and their parents' social gender perceptions. Relational scanning model was used in the study. The sample of the research consisted of pupils attending pre-school education institutions in Antalya between 2016-2017 academic year and their parents. The children participated in the study involved 307 children aged between 48 and 72 month attending ten different pre-school education institutions in Antalya.The sample of the study was determined by simple random sampling method. Participants who were in the 48-72 months old age group and showing normal development consisted of 135 female and 172 male pupils. %26.7 of the children were in the 48- 59 months old age group and %73.3 were in the 60- 72 months old age group. "Demographic Information Form", "Social Gender Stereotypes Measurement Tool" and "Social Gender Perception Scale" were used. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics was employed depending on the research questions, also, one-factor analysis of variance (ANOVA), T-test, Tukey Test and Correlation Analysis techniques were used. According to the results of the study, the positive medium level relationship was found between social gender perceptions of mothers and social gender perceptions of fathers. Positive high level relationship was found between children's social gender stereotypes and all other sub-dimensions (tasks- jobs, professions, games and toys) of them. However, there was positive low level relationship between social gender perceptions of parents and social gender stereotypes of children.
