The transcription and evaluation of the Muhimme-i Mektûme Book no 5

Muhimme books, take the lead among the book series organized by Ottoman bureaucracy. These books were created by Ottoman council which is the highest decision making body, by gathering the copies of the council decisions. As it includes the decisions related to lots of issues coming to the council, it is possible to find the information related to a lot of research subjects in these books. With this aspect, Muhimme Books have the quality of being resource series that a good many researchers consult. In this study, in addition to the information given about Muhimme Books, the transcription and the evaluation of the Muhimme-i Mektûme Book no 5 were done. The summaries of the judgements in the book were also included. Muhimme-i Mektûme Book no 5, includes the judgements sent to the government officials about the important issues regarding the safety of the state, notably the brigandage issues happened between 1805 and 1809.
