An examination of implementation process of the 5. grade physical education and sport curriculum: Example of multiple case study

The aim of this study is to investigate the harmony between the 5th grade physical education and sports curriculum and the curriculum in-use in Eskişehir. The participants of the research, which is designed as a multiple case study of qualitative research methods, consists of two physical education teachers who conduct physical education and sports classes at two different socio-economic level secondary schools during the 2018-2019 Academic Year fall semester. In line with the aim of the research, the following four main themes were reached: 1-Application of the curriculum, 2-Attitudes towards physical education course, 3-Problems encountered in practice and 4-Self assessment of teachers. As a result, it was observed that all stakeholders, especially teachers, were effective in the curriculum in-use. It is recommended to disseminate in-service trainings, revise teacher education programs and ensure cooperation of stakeholders in the solution of the problems encountered.
