Examination of the relationship between english self sufficiency and academic success of fifth grades towards English learning outcomes

The aim of the study is to determine whether fifth grade students differentiate their academic achievements in self-efficacy for English language achievements and examine the relationship between fifth grade students' self-efficacy and academic achievement. 650 students from different secondary schools in Karabük, Turkey attended this study. In this study, the relational screening model was used as it was aimed to determine whether the English self-efficacy perceptions of elementary school students affect the academic achievement. Descriptive statistic, t-test, Pearson moment correlations, two way ANOVA tests were used to analyze the data. According to findings, there is a significant relationship between the level of English self-efficacy perceptions of students and academic achievement. In terms of gender of students, educational status of parents, there is a meaningful relationship between English self-efficacy perception level and academic achievement. The common effect of gender and English Self-efficacy Perception Levels on English academic achievement of 5th grade students is significant. There is a meaningful difference in the sub-dimensions of '' understanding language, using language and feeling enough'' scale that is developed to determine the English self-sufficiency of the students according to the educational level of the students' parents.
