The effect of the quantum learning model on students' academic achievements in 5th grade social studies course

Social Studies course is defined as a field aiming to individuals' holistic development and self-realization while considering their individual differences. The kuantum learning model, as a contemporary learning and teaching model, contributes to individuals' holistic self-realization by enabling students to improve their academic success and develop life skills. Just like in the Social Studies course, the quantum learning model not only aims to equip students with various skills but also strives to enhance their academic achievements. The main aim of this research is to determine the impact of the quantum learning model in 5th grade Social Studies course on students' academic achievements. Using the mixed research method with an embedded design, the participants of this research consist of 5th-grade students and their Social Studies teacher studying in a public middle school located in the Van province of Türkiye during the spring term of the 2023-2024 academic year. The research data was collected through academic achievement tests, semi-structured interview forms, unstructured observations, and researcher's journal. Statistical analysis of the research data utilized t-tests and covariance analysis for independent samples, while content analysis was employed for qualitative data analysis. The research concluded that Social Studies education based on the quantum learning model contributed to enhancing students' academic achievements. Both the Social Studies teacher and students involved in the research acknowledged the various benefits of the quantum learning model in Social Studies education. The results of the research led to the development of recommendations for practice and further research.
