Abstract (EN)

Ottoman Empire has a strong constitution based on justice. There has been a lot of effort put in to protect that constitution. We can see it at best in law and justice papers of the time. Court records of Ottoman Justice which is known as şer'iye sicilleri helps us to understand their time in many ways. Kütahya Şer'iye Sicilleri No 55, which is the subject of this study, enlightens us about Kütahya provinence and its subjects in political, economic, cultural and social matters in years of 1880 to 1882 (1297 to 1299 according to the hegira calendar). Kütahya Şer'iye Sicil No 55 includes court records. Court records are made of documents about charities, inheritances, warrants, official correspondences and delegations. Since some pages are unreadable of this 49 leaf documents, those pages are shown as (…).
