Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine which values are included in the 6th grade Turkish textbook and the distribution of these values according to text type. For the research, 30 reading texts taken from 2016-2017 Educational Year 6th Grade Turkish Textbook of the Ministry of National Education prepared by Board of Education are examined. Which values are processed in the texts and the distribution of these values according to the text types are analyzed. To collect the data, document analysis which is one of the qualitative research methods is used. Also, to be able to analyze the data, content analysis method is used. In conclusion, the percentages of values that are detected in the 6th grade Turkish textbook are the followings; %13 national values, %11 respect, %10 love, %9 sensitivity, %6 patriotism, %5 responsibility, %5 science, %5 independence, %4 sedulity, %4 cooperation, %4 religious values, %4 being air, %3 peace, %3 helpfulness, %3giving importance to family unity, %2 freedom, %2 tolerance, %1 honesty, %1 hospitality, %1 giving importance to be healthy, %1 cleaning. The text types which have the highest rate of value usage are story (24%), biography (14%) and essay (14%).
