Examination of the texts in the 6th grade Turkish textbook according to the qualifi̇cations of the Turkish education program

With this study, it is aimed to examine the texts in the Turkish textbook according to the qualifications of the texts to be included in the textbook in the Turkish Curriculum. Within the scope of qualitative research, the Turkish textbook taught at the 6th grade level of EKOYAY Publications in the 2020-2021 academic year was examined as a data source in the research carried out with the document analysis design. 8 themes in the Turkish textbook examined, a total of 40 texts under these 8 themes were subjected to examination. While conducting the examination, the qualifications that should be included in the texts to be included in the textbook in the Turkish Curriculum were taken as basis. An evaluation form has been created according to the qualifications in the Turkish Curriculum. The texts were examined according to this evaluation form. Content analysis was used in the analysis of the obtained data. As a result of the study, it was determined that some texts contained expressions that were not suitable in terms of education. It was seen that the texts in the textbook were taken from the authors accepted in the field. It was determined that 1 author from the Turkic republics was included in the textbook, but the authors of the Balkan Turks were not included. Newspaper reports, advertisements, petitions, minutes and types of social media applications were not used as texts in the textbook. Chapters that contain memoirs, anecdotes, anecdotes, etc. in the text, but which can be used semantically independently, are also not included in the texts. As a result of the investigations, it was determined that the biography of the copywriter was not included at the beginning of the texts. In the other sub-problems determined, it was determined that the texts included in the Turkish textbook were selected in accordance with the specifications specified in the program.
