Sinop shariah registry no 78 (Transcription and evaluation)

The aim of this study is to make a contribution to understanding of the economical, historical and cultural history of Sinop. In accordance with this purpose, we made a transcription of number 78 Sinop Shariah Registry including the years between H. 1 Safer 1286-9 Zilhicce 1289 (AD 13 April 1869-7 February 1873) . Subsequently, we tried to explain the decrees in the book in a certain classification. Shariah Registries are among the primary sources used in researches for Ottoman history. It contains information about the administrative, financial, social systems of its region. We are able to determine the districts, towns, neighborhoods, villages of the city, the items like house,kitchen, clothes people used in their daily lives with the help of religious court . Within this scope , we can have knowledge of Sinop's social,cultural,economic, legal life with the help of the book number 78. KEYWORDS: Sinop, neighborhood, social life, Circassian, migrant
