The effects of 7E learning model on academic success, behaviours and motivation of 8th grade students'in science and technology class and the unit of natural processes

The aim of this research is to examine the effects of materials developed in accordance with 7E Learning Model on academic success, behaviors and motivation of 8th grade students'in science and technology class and the unit of "Natural Processes" The research is conducted in the 2nd Term (Spring) of 2014-2015 Academic Year in a secondary school located in Yakutiye,Erzurum with the participation of total 42 students of 8th grade (test group n:20, control group n:22) from two different schools. The study is accomplished totally in 6 weeks which is 4 hours in a week. In this study, one of the model of quantitative research which is preliminary test-final test semiexperimantal design with control group and qualitative research model of action research are used together in this way a mixed research model is designed. In this research, the data is provided from four different way, these are academic success test, science and technology oriented behavior scale, science and technology oriented motivation test and interview forms of students. The quantitative data of the study is analyzed with the use of IBM-20, Kolmogorov-smirnov test, matched sample t-test and wilcoxon marked serial test. Qualitative data is coded with the use of Nvivo Qualitative Data Analyze program. Microsoft Office Visio Program is used to figural design of the results. In the study, students in the test group are used materials developed in accordance with 7E Learning Model in their learning while students in control group learn with the materials in accordance with Science and technology teaching program and they are used the method and technics as the study books of MEB suggest. According to the results of preliminary test the groups are seen equivalent. In every stage of the study the data is evaluated by the way of interview and observation continuously. According to statistical information, it is seen that materials developed in accordance with 7E Learning Model improve academic success, behaviors and motivation of 8th grade students' Also, it is observed in their interviews about the stages and application of the model that students have positive opinions about 7E Learning Model.
