Abstract (EN)
The use and teaching of the sword dates back to 2000 BC. Fencing, which has its origins in the duels of medieval knights, was founded in Europe. Fencing, which took its place in the modern Olympics for the first time in 1896, is a sport based on attack and defense, performed with weapons that do not have sharp or penetrating features, within the framework of certain rules. In this study, it was investigated whether "8-week core training has an effect on the physical parameters of young female fencing athletes". The universe of the study consists of young female fencing athletes with a regular training history, with a mean age of 14.60±0.83 years. A total of 30 volunteer fencing athletes, 15 of which were in the experimental group and 15 in the control group, participated in the study. The experimental group of the research consists of 15 licensed, contestant, fencing athletes living in Samsun, receiving fencing training at Atakum Athlete Factory, and the control group consists of 15 licensed, competitive fencing athletes participating in the fencing development camp in Antalya. After the anthropometric measurements of the experimental and control groups were taken, flexibility, vertical jump, speed, agility, balance, hand claw strength pretest were applied to the athletes. The 8-week core training planned in Table 3.2. was applied to the experimental group, while the control group continued its own technical training. At the end of the 8-week study, after the anthropometric measurements of both groups, flexibility, vertical jump, speed, agility, balance, hand claw strength test were applied again as a post-test. The pre-test and post-test results of the data obtained from the sample were analyzed by Paired-Simple T-Test for dependent-independent groups. SPSS 23.0 package program was used in the analysis of the data. The significance level was accepted as p<0.05 in the interpretation of statistical data. In the statistical analysis comparison, when table 4.4 and table 4.5 were examined, it was determined that there was a significant difference in the core group, but no significant difference was found in the control group.
