Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the changes in the self-confidence and aggression levels of female high school students aged 14-15 in Bandırma district of Balıkesir province of the Republic of Turkey, who received basic boxing training for 8 weeks. Of the 57 students who volunteered to participate in the research, which was designed with a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest and control group, 21 students were randomly selected for the study group and 21 students for the control group. Participants' self-confidence and aggression levels were determined by applying the Self-Confidence Scale (Akın, 2007) and Aggression Inventory (Kiper, 1984) face to face and with printed materials. Then, the study group was given 1-hour basic boxing techniques training once a week for 8 weeks. At the end of the research, self-confidence and aggression levels were measured and recorded. Data imported were was entered SPSS version 27.0.1, tests were applied (95% confidence interval and p<0.05 significance level). According to the analysis; The study and control groups are similar in terms of demographic characteristics. At the end of the study, while there wasn't change in the control group, there was a significant positive change in the self-confidence level of the boxing training group (p<0.05). Additionally, no significant change was observed in the aggression levels of the control and study groups (p>0.05). As a result of these analyses, it was seen that boxing training increased the self-confidence of girls but didn't have a significant effect on aggression.
