In 8th grade simple machines unit, the effect of Algodoo applications based on ASSURE model on students' attitudes towards the course and technology

In this research, it was aimed to determine the effect of Algodoo applications based on the ASSURE model on students' attitudes towards the course and technology in the 8th grade "Simple Machines" unit. Pre-test and post-test experiment-control group quasi-experimental design was used in the study and this research was carried out with 70 students (35 students in the control group and 35 students in the experimental group) studying in a public secondary school with a medium socio-economic level in Aksaray province, selected by convenience sampling method in the 2022-2023 academic year. In the experimental group of the study, the lessons were taught in the center of lesson plans prepared according to the ASSURE model enriched with simulations prepared with the Algodoo application developed by the researcher, while in the control group, the lessons were taught by following the science textbook as stipulated by the curriculum. "Attitude Scale towards Science Course" and "Attitude Scale towards Technology" were used as data collection tools. Parametric tests were used to analyze the quantitative data obtained. As a result of the research, it was determined that there was no statistically significant difference between the attitude averages of the experimental and control group students towards science course and technology. In the intra-group analysis, it was found that while there was no statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest attitude score averages of the control group students, the pretest and posttest attitude score averages of the experimental group students showed a statistically significant difference. It is recommended to conduct studies on similar subjects supported by qualitative data.
