Transcription and evaluation of the Adana single registry number 88 (H.1286-1287/M.1869 -1871)

In the study; The transcription and evaluation of Adana Sharia Registry No. 88, which covers the years H.1286-1287 M.1869-1871, has been made. The notebook is 95 pages and contains a total of 169 documents. According to the registry, which is the subject of the research, the administrative, social and economic structure of the city of Adana between the years 1869-1871 was mentioned. By transcribed the registry, the administrative, social and economic situation of the Ottoman State and the city of Adana on the specified dates was tried to be revealed. Document records in the registry in question include titles, nicknames and occupational groups, Muslim male-female names and non-Muslim male-female names, neighborhood-village, and tribe names. However, records such as receivables and payables, debts, foreclosure-bankruptcy, pledges, leasing, partnerships, agricultural product, animal and animal product sales, property sales, transportation have a significant place. This situation reveals the vitality of commercial life. From the aforementioned registry, information about the agricultural and animal products of the period and the prices of the mentioned products can be determined. Data on the commercial relations of Adana with different cities can also be determined. Land and maritime transport come to the fore in commercial relations in Adana. It is seen that Karataş Pier is used in sea transportation. People from many different regions come to Adana for commercial purposes and there are also people residing in Adana.
