A thematic study on A. Didem Uslu's novels

The subject of literature is humanity. Humans are the most important and fundamental element that constitutes society. While literary works aim to examine humanity in all its aspects, artists shape the emotional and inner world of humans using the linguistic and cultural elements of the society in which they were raised, creating their works. Artists are influenced by their societies when creating their works. At the same time, artists and their works influence society and indirectly contribute to its transformation. Therefore, we can say that literature is a field where the emotions and thoughts of societies are reflected. In Turkish literature, we can say that writers were heavily influenced by the changes and developments experienced by society and created their works within the climate created by these changes. This is also why Turkish literature is classified as pre-Islamic, post-Islamic, and Western-influenced. The works of these periods differ significantly in language and content. As with all artists, A. Didem USLU was influenced by the cultural fabric of the society in which she lived and created her works without remaining indifferent to the periodic political and social events she witnessed. A. Didem Uslu's novels focus primarily on the state, society, and the individual, political and social events, historical issues, and women's place and rights in society. Besides her artistic identity, Uslu also possesses an academic identity. In her works, she explores society and humanity through the lens of both an artist and an individual, and an intellectual. Social themes occupy a significant place in her works. Furthermore, the author's sensitive approach and didactic style in addressing these themes are key elements in the novels we are examining. Through her unique narrative structure, the artist blends her life experiences and memories of people and places into her novels and many other works, presenting them to the reader. The author's novels were analyzed and analyzed in light of these findings. Her novels are divided into two categories: individual and social themes, each of which is further subdivided and analyzed within its own themes. The research consists of an introduction, individual and social themes, and a conclusion. The first section examines the novels " Meeting Beyond Time," "Wildflower Growing in the Shadow of Tanks," "From the Route of Piri Reis in the Linden Season," "Ayşe with a White Turban and John Smith," "Keşke," and "In the Snowy Skyscrapers of America," and presents individual themes and examples from these novels.
