Abbâsî halifesi Mûsâ el-Hâdî ve dönemi (169-170/785-786)

Abbasids constitute an important field of study for today's historical studies. Many caliphs, who ruled in the nearly 500-year Abbasid history, have been the subject of research. In order to understand the Abbasid state correctly, it is essential to study each caliph. Studying the caliphs, especially in the Abbasid establishment period, will facilitate the understanding of the political functioning and institutional structures of the state. In the literature review, it was seen that the Hadi period was not studied independently. It has become necessary to study this period in order to better understand the establishment period of the Abbasid state. In this thesis, the Abbasid caliph Mûsâ al-Hâdî and his period were studied in general terms. In the research, historical sources that shed light on this period were scanned and the data obtained were used chronologically. In the second part of the thesis, Hadi's ancestry, birth, family, personality, morals, scientific direction and death are discussed. In the third part, the heirship period of the caliph, the process of his coming to the caliphate, and the political developments during his reign are the topics discussed in general terms. In addition, the most striking event of the period Hüseyin b. Ali's revolt and the Fah massacre are studied. In the fourth chapter, the power struggle with Hayzüran, the mother of the caliph, is discussed. In addition, his request to dismiss his brother Harun er-Reşîd from the throne was examined. In the fifth chapter, the illness of the caliph and the doubt in his death were studied. In particular, the role of his mother in his death was investigated in classical Islamic history and Orientalist sources and it was tried to determine how the subject was handled. As a result, the period of Hadi, one of the shortest surviving caliphs of the Abbasid power, has been examined in all its aspects. The doubt about his death was tried to be clarified.
