Abstract (EN)
Turks are a nation that has stood out with their military success since the beginning of their existence. After converting to Islam, they used their war skills and military discipline to spread and protect their religion. Turks, who started to join the Umayyad state, did not have the chance to show themselves due to the mawali policies of the state. Turkish commanders who openly supported the Abbasid revolution with the establishment of the new state rose to positions such as supreme commander, governorship, and chamberlainship thanks to their military skills. In this thesis, the life of Eşnâs et-Turki, one of the Turkish commanders of the Abbasid period, his process of joining the Islamic army, and the military and administrative duties he took on are discussed. Additionally, the contributions of Eşnâs et-Turki and other Turkish commanders who were his contemporaries to Turkish-Islamic history are mentioned. The main sources of our work are historical classical works such as Tabari, Ibn Athir, Ibn Kathir, and Ya'qubi. In addition, current articles and studies that shed light on the period are among the other works we referenced in our thesis.
