Persuasion and influence mechanisms in the political correspondence in the Abbasid era: A pragmatic study

The research is about exploring the effectiveness of the most important pragmatics approaches in the analysis of political discourse and the related usefulness in revealing the mechanisms of influence and persuasion.The researcher examines the intentional approach (Intintionaly), The theory of speech acts embedded in the saying of John Austin (Speech Act Theory), John Searle's analytical model, The Grician approach (by Paul Grice) represented in the principle of cooperation (Cooperative Principle), The model of dialogic imperative analysis (Conversational Implicature), The approaches of considering the concept of the previous assumption (Presupposition) and its relationship to pragmatism and the multiplicity of its analytical view, and the approaches of Deceptive Manipulation analysis, especially the theory of the Pragmatic Fallacy of Douglas Walton. The researcher introduces a presentation of each Pragmatic approach, and related foundations, concepts and models of analysis, taking political correspondence in the Abbasid era as a material to test analysis, critical discussion and draw conclusions. The researcher is not limited to presentation and application, but provides a critical discussion, and seeks in each chapter to reveal the areas of usefulness in the analysis of political discourse, and the gaps that need a theoretical contribution or analysis, The researcher also presented several theoretical and analytical suggestions to develop the effectiveness of pragmatic approaches in the analysis of political discourse such as his proposal for a model for developing the benefit of directive pattern analysis in Speech Act Theory, his proposal to develop the principle of Cooperative Principle (presumptive) to the principle of Participatory Communication, his proposal for broader view of assumptions and consideration of the concept of discourse presupposition, and his proposal to establish a pragmatic approach to the analysis of deceptive manipulation.
