Abstract (EN)
Natural disasters are events that are unpredictable and occur without human intervention. Since they are unpredictable, precise information about their sphere of influence and level of influence is often not available. Throughout history, there have been many natural disasters that human beings have been exposed to. Earthquakes, floods, droughts, fires and epidemics are at the forefront of these disasters. The disasters that have occurred have negatively affected societies in many ways, including economic, political, social and religious. Sometimes these catastrophes have changed the course of history and led to the change of administrations and regimes. These disasters have often followed each other in the same geographical region, and one disaster has led to the occurrence of another disaster. People have taken precautions against natural disasters that adversely affect life according to the period they are in and the effects of the events have been tried to be mitigated. As a result of the disasters, many settlements were damaged and countless living things lost their lives. These disasters have created recoveries that take a long time to compensate. Houses, architectural structures and agricultural lands have been difficult to repair. Natural disasters, which are not only characterized by material losses, have also decreased the population of regions where deaths are very high. Due to the increasing number of deaths, people were often unable to bury their dead, and mass burials became widespread. Disasters have changed the course of normal life, mosques have not been able to pray, market places have not been reached, and most businesses have had to be closed. The psychology of people whose social life has been turned upside down has been adversely affected due to the loss of life and property. Our study investigated how natural disasters, which caused great damage to society and affected the social, political values and economic power of geographical regions, burned into the Abbasid period. Whether it is the pre-Abbasid period or the natural disasters that occurred during the Abbasid period, it has been observed that it has a great impact on migration movements, famine and political factors. Key Terms: Islamic History, Abbasids, Locust Invasions, Earthquake, Flood
