The linguistic project of Abdelwahab Elmessiri

The language has a central role in the project of Abdelwahab Mohammed Ahmed Elmessiri, the Islamic encyclopedic Egyptian thinker (October 1983 – July 2008). His linguistic project is setting a foundation to humanitarian modernity from an Islamic point of view. He used the language to shape his own paradigm and terminologies in order to apply his methodology on culture, thought, and critique; while giving a unique conceptualization for the language and metaphor depends on their relationship with the religious creed, understanding the universe, and ideology. This study is an attempt to meet the research needs for the procedural tools used by the founder of the project, in addition to testing these tools in the linguistics and similar fields. This study concluded that Elmessiri has a unique conception for the language and metaphor, clear terminologies, and unambiguous writings. Moreover, he presents his idea in comparative frame that makes harmony with the contemporary linguistic speech. And I specified the features of his linguistic project.
